Arctic Food Arena opens Atacama’s new podcast series, with former acting project lead Oliver Ottvall as the first guest.
Together with host Jeremias Finster, he discusses Arctic Food Arena, circular food production in Northern Sweden, and how residual heat from industry can be reused for sustainable greenhouse cultivation.
Jeremias’ strong understanding of conditions in Norrbotten County is evident throughout the conversation, built on Atacama’s long and ongoing work in the region. Atacama also conducted the Gällivare Green Cluster Pre-Study (2023) as part of the North Sweden Green Deal for Gällivare Näringsliv, which mapped value chains within the green industry and identified opportunities for circular business models.
Based on that work, Atacama produced a value chain analysis summary for Arctic Food Arena in 2024, focusing on greenhouse horticulture in cold climates. The study evaluated 36 potential uses for greenhouse residuals from cucumber, lettuce, tomato, and bell pepper. Of these, 13 high-fit applications were identified based on environmental impact, technical maturity, and economic potential in Gällivare.
